“Oh no! My dental claim didn’t pay again!” This is often said in dental offices nationwide. But why? The truth is some claims need supporting documentation to show “proof” that the procedures performed for the patient were actually warranted.

Making the decision to be in-network with a dental Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) can bring challenges to your dental team. To be an in-network provider, you must credential with the insurance payer. But proper credentialing involves many steps and can consume much of one team member’s time. As an outsourced dental billing company, we have worked with hundreds of clients taking care of the credentialing process on their behalf. During the credentialing process, one problem you may face is how to submit claims properly. The challenge occurs most often when a treating provider joins a practice as an associate practitioner. During the credentialing process, practices are often tempted to submit claims using the already credentialed doctor or owner doctor listed as the treating provider. This is inappropriate because that provider may be receiving reimbursement he is not entitled to receive.

Every dental practice needs at least one team member responsible for handling insurance claims. Whether your office is PPO dependent or fee for service, insurance billing tasks are required to provide quality service to your patients. These tasks, created by the dental claims billing process, force offices to hire full time staff, part time staff, or extend the dental billing workload to other team members. Dental Claim Support, an outsourced dental billing company, was founded to help dentists with the mismanagement of dental billing within dental practices. The mission of Dental Claim Support is to ensure dentists get paid by eliminating insurance strain.

Information theft is at an all time high. Every day you hear about another company that has had a security breach which has caused their private information of their customers to be spread across the web. Dental offices are becoming more and more of a target because from the perspective of the thief, they are low hanging fruit. Why? Because many dental offices tend to think it won’t happen to them, so there’s no urgency to be concerned about securing patient information.

Fact. There are problems that occur with outsourcing your dental billing. Trust me, as an outsourced dental billing company, it hurts to say that. The problems usually occur in particular when a dental office engages in outsourcing for the first time. Think of any new employees entering your dental office. There are always uncertainties. How will the new employee fit in? Are they going to change things around here? With any new employee or business relationship, there is always a learning curve and “get-to-know-you” period. This is no different with an outsourced dental billing company.
